Indian ambassador meets NA speaker
Indian Ambassador to Bhutan V P Haran has called on the Speaker of National Assembly Jigme Zangpo on Tuesday morning. He was the first foreigner to hold talks with Speaker after being elected.
Congratulating the Speaker on his election, Haran claimed Zangpo was the best suitable person to be elected as Speaker considering his experiences in legal field.
Besides exchange of congratulatory notes, they also discussed various areas of cooperation between the Parliaments of India and Bhutan. However, it has not been made public about the possible areas of the corporation they discussed.
Haran offered to trainings to National Assembly members and the staff of the NA secretariat in India.
Only last week, a delegation of the National Council led by its chairperson Sonam Kinga travelled to India where it held bilateral discussion with political leaders, bureaucrats and parliament officials.
