Norwegian envoy visit camp, affected area

Norwegian ambassador to Nepal Alf Arne Ramslien travelled to Beldangi camps in Jhapa access the latest status of exiled Bhutanese and development activities in the refugee affected area.

Ramslien, along with his assistants, on the occasion inspected Police Post under construction near the camp and two projects in the neighbouring villages – Mawa Khola Drinking Water Project and Agricultural Firm.

He received updates about refugee situation and development activities carried out by the donor countries and UNHCR from Nainsingh Bhandari, president of Community Network.

UNHCR has donated Rs 7 million for development projects in the refugee-affected area this year.

His visit comes shortly after the British envoy to Nepal revealed the core group of countries resettling Bhutanese exiles are making efforts to engage India for repatriation of those unwilling to go for resettlement.
