Resigning expat teachers creating employment for Bhutanese

Though ire is high against increasing unemployment in the country, the parents are worrying at Indian teachers leaving their job in Bhutan and return to their country for better jobs.

According to education ministry statistics, number of foreign teachers decreased by 226 in the last two years. Indian teachers especially hired for high schools and higher secondary schools.

The privatisation of education is giving better opportunities for them. India is increasingly becoming regional education hub thus Bhutanese expat teachers are lured into the southern neighbour.

Bhutan is likely to face hiccups for a while but returning of expats means creation of more vacancies for domestic employment. This would be welcome news for the new ruling party that had given assurances for 100 percent youth employment.
