Brussels embassy’s larger gathering
The Bhutanese embassy in Brussels organised the first ever get together in Europe of the Honorary Consuls, Friendship Associations, Partners and other friends of Bhutan in the European Union countries marking the 106th National Day on 17 December 2013.
Present at the gathering were the Bhutanese Honorary Consuls in the Netherlands and Germany, along with representatives of the Friendship Associations from Denmark, Netherlands, France, UK, Sweden and Hungary as well as Bhutanese residents and students.
Embassy official Sonam Tshong said the main purpose of the gathering was to acknowledge and thank our friends, partners and well wishers in Europe for their contributions and also to discuss how we could further improve our cooperation and coordination both with the Embassy and among the Associations themselves.
He updated the participants on the current political, social and economic priorities of the Bhutan government including the issue of introducing electric powered public transportation and overseas employment possibilities for Bhutanese. An exclusively Bhutanese lunch prepared by a team of visiting Bhutanese was served.
Evening presentation included Bhutanese cultural performance and cuisine.
