JICA representatives visit Japan supported projects in east

JICA visitMs. Yumiko Asakuma, Chief Representative of the JICA Bhutan Office visited JICA Assisted Agriculture Development Programmes in the eastern district in the last week of November.

She was accompanied by JICA experts and officals from Renewable Natural Resources Research Development Centre (RNRRDC) Wengkhar and District Agriculture Office.

Asakuma attended inauguration of Farm Machinery Support Centre in Phuntshothang in Samdurpsholing sub-division. The centre is expected to provide sales, repair and maintenance services for the four blocks Phunsthothang, Samrang, Martshala and Pemathang benefiting some 1,385 households.

She inaugurated One Stop Farmers Shop at Orong, Samdrup Jongkhar, established under the Technical Cooperation Project- Horticulture Research and Development Project (HRDP) funded through JICA.

While on the tour, she also visited the Private Nurseries at Mongnang Khola near Khaling (Trashigang), Mixed Fruit Orchards at Morong (Samdrupjongkhar), and Rongthong (Trashigang) and Yurbi (Lhuentse) established under the Technical Cooperation Project – HRDP.

She also inaugurated JICA funded 2-km Yurbi Power Tiller Track at Chumeygang.
