British minister calls on PM
Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay met with Hugo Swire, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom on Thursday (5 June) at the prime minister’s office.
Minister Swire was accompanied by Sir James David Bevan, British High Commissioner to India.
Conveying his warmest greetings, PM Tobgay thanked the minister for visiting Bhutan and said that his government was very pleased to receive the first high-level official visit from UK.
The two politicians discussed on exploring into more educational tie-ups, encouraging an increased number of British companies to assist Bhutan in its economic development and promoting people-to-people contact.
UK is one of the member of core group resettling Bhutanese in exile. High level visit by UK official at the time resettlement is nearing closure is taken with interests.
