Princess Sonam Dechen becomes member of Thai Bar
Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuk has become the fifth honourary member of the Thai Bar under the Royal Patronage, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
Earlier, the institution had given honourary membership to Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Queen Sirikit, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Princess Sonam accepted the honour of becoming the member of the institution of the Thai lawyers during her four-day visit to the country at the invitation of the Courts of Justice of Thailand.
Her visit, that ends Thursday (July 24) is aimed at boosting bilateral relations on justice.
She is accompanied on her visit by an entourage including Bhutan’s judges, the attorney general, secretary-general of the Royal Courts of Justice and other officials.
Princess Sonam currently works for Bhutan’s High Court and chairs the Bhutan National Legal Institute.
