BOIC centre opens
Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Indian envoy to Bhutan Gautam Bambawale jointly inaugurated the Business Opportunity Information Centre (BOIC) in Thimphu on Wednesday.
The government in December last year had approved the establishment of BOIC with objectives to support the small and micro industries in the country. By the end of current plan period, the centre projects to establish 6,000 small and cottage industries in the country.
The centre will remain under the Ministry of Economic Affairs as a time bound autonomous agency for implementation of the Revolving Fund created as part of Economic Stimulus Program.
The government says, Revolving Fund will be managed in a sustainable manner to foster growth of cottage and small manufacturing industries that contribute to employment creation, export enhancement or import substitution by providing necessary support, both administrative and financial to the small and cottage industries.
The BOIC is governed by an Independent Board comprising members including the Joint Secretary, MoEA (Chairperson), Representative of MoF, MoAF and BCCI, Director, DoCSI, one member nominated by RMA, two independent financial/business experts and the CEO of BOIC as Member Secretary.
