Gas cards for low income families

The government has announced that cards will be issued for distribution of the LPG gas to the consumers.

Ministry of Economic Affairs said quota LPG Consumer Cards will be issued in six districts (Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Wangdi Phodrang, Haa and Gasa) in phases between 1 October 2014 and 31 December, 2014.

Regional Trade and Industry Office (RTIO) in Thimphu will start issuing the cards for eligible households under Thimphu municipality.

The consumer cards for eligible households in Paro, Punakha, Wangdi Phodrang, Haa, Gasa and far flung blocks under Thimphu district will be issued in their districts/blocks.

The implementation of the Consumer Card system for refilling LPG cylinders shall start from 1 January 2015 but the process of refilling LPG Cylinders under the region will remain the same until the end of this year.
