Poacher arrested in Bhutan

Despite round the clock vigil, the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district has been a safe haven for the poachers these days.

Bhutan forest officials have apprehended a poacher from Bollamjhora village under Gossaigaon a couple of days back. Identified as Ponel Basumatary, he was caught along with four of his associates while he felling tree at Zamduar jungles along the border.

The Bhutan forest officials kept him at their custody at Sarpang. Talks are on for his release. His family members appealed to the Bhutan government to release him at an earlier date.
