Bhutan-Australia consultation

Bhutan-AustraliaThe Third Annual Bilateral Consultations between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Govemment of the Commonwealth of Australia was held on October 28 in Thimphu.

The bilateral consultation provides a forum for the two countries to exchange views on wide ranging issues of mutual interest and discuss areas of cooperation in various fields. The consultations are hosted by the two couniries alternately in Bhutan and Australia. Bhutan hosted the first consultations in 2012, and the second consultations was held in Canberra, Australia in 2013.

Australian assistance to Bhutan in human resource development and animal husbandry date back to the early 1960s. Diplomatic relations between the two
countries was established on 14ft September 2002.

The Bhutanese delegation was led by Kinga Singye, Director General, Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Australian delegation was led by Patrick Suckling, Australian Ambassador to Bhutan.
