Tobgay completes Dhaka tour
Prime Minister Ushering Tobgay has concluded his Dhaka visit with two agreements signed including to increase the trading activities between Bhutan and Bangladesh.
The trade agreement signed in presence of the two government heads details about duty-free access for exporting 90 products in trade between the two countries. Bangladeshi Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Bhutan’s Economic Affairs Minister Norbu Wangchuk signed the protocol on trade.
“We will allow duty-free access for exporting boulders from Bhutan for Padma Bridge. We will do everything necessary to increase trade between the two countries,” Ahmed said after signing the agreement.
Bhutan’s total trade volume with Bangladesh is worth Nu. 1.6 BN.
In another agreement, Dhaka agreed to provide a plot of land at Baridhara, free of cost, for the embassy of Bhutan. Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Bhutanese Home Minister Rinzin Dorji signed the agreement.
