A judge returns his entitlements
Ugyen Tenzin, 60, a retired judge, has returned his official scarf and the sward given to him as symbol to his position becoming the second person in the country to do so.
The positional entitlement was returned to the Royal Privy Council, headed by Chenkyab Dorji. Traditionally, such symbols of power should hand over after retirement but rarely anyone does.
Though the Royal Civil Service Commission issued a notification saying that “it is a timely reminder of the common knowledge that position based kabney and patting must be relinquished when the person relinquishes that position,” it hasn’t been followed.
