Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorji removed from cabinet

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has removed silently and unexpectedly reshuffled the cabinet on Tuesday – foreign minister has been removed from the cabinet.

The involvement of Foreign Minister Rinzin Dorji in the Lakhang Karpo scandal had smeared the public image of the government.

Tobago has named Damcho Dorji as the new Foreign Minister of the country. MP from Bongo Chapcha constituency in Chukka Dawan Gyaltshen has been name new Home and Cultural Minister as Damcho Dorji moves into new portfolio.

Though Rinzin Dorji was cleared any charges of corruption on him by the Haa district court, the Office of the Attorney General and the Anti Corruption Commission has appealed to the High Court against the verdict. The OAG has handed over the case to ACC for prosecution.

Gyeltshen is a PDP MP who is currently the Chairperson of the Good Governance Committee and a member of the Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Committee of the National Assembly.

He has a Bachelors degree in Education from the Huddersfield University in United Kingdom.
