A multicultural programme by Bhutanese in Akron, US
The Bhutanese Community Association of Akron will sponsor a multicultural program, “Bringing People Together,” scheduled for Saturday, August 22.
Organisers said the purpose of the programme is to introduce the Bhutanese-Nepali community to people outside their own culture, and for them to learn about other cultures in the Greater Akron area.
Besides cultural performances and information sharing, speakers such as Knight Foundation Akron Program Director Kyle Kutuchief, Case Farms Human Resources Manager Esteban Nieto, Akron Mayor Jeff Fusco, and Michael Byun, executive director of Asian Services in Action have been invited to address the attendees.
Exiled Bhutanese who have settled in the Akron area are making a positive impact in the North Hill and Cuyahoga Falls areas by getting jobs, paying taxes, buying homes and creating businesses.
