DPT MP resigns
One of the prominent member of the Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) in National Assembly Kinga Tshering has resigned from his post.
He represented the North Thimphu constituency. National Assembly Speaker Tshogpon Jigme Zangpo has accepted his resignation.
The MP cited his studies as reason to resign from the position. The NA website notification says that the MP had originally applied for study leave to undertake a course in Harvard University.
To fill the vacant post from North-Thimphu the Speaker will inform the Election Commission of Bhutan which will issue a writ for bye elections within 30 days starting from 11th August. The entire election process is expected to be complete in 90 days.
