UNHCR concludes interviews

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has completed interviewing the exiled Bhutanese who have expressed willingness to be repatriated to Bhutan. The interviews were held in Beldangi office. The UN agency had asked the exiled Bhutanese to express their interest in repatriation last month.

The process has begun following the withdrawal of all aid agencies terminating their programmes in camps leaving over 6,000 individuals without any support.

The agency has not disclosed any statistical data to say who many have expressed their interest to go Bhutan.

The exiled Bhutanese were asked to provide personal identification details, camp address, previous address in Bhutan, address in Bhutan wanted to go now and family size. The exiled Bhutanese were asked to provide evidence of their Bhutanese identity during the interview.
