Bhutan to send workers to Thailand

Flag-Thailand-BhutanBhutan, that has just embarked into the foreign employment market, is seeking to have a Memorandum of Understanding with Thai government on the employment of 12,000 Bhutanese workers in Thailand.

The Thai Minister of Labour Gen. Surasak Karnjanarat received Bhutanese Minister for Labour and Human Resources Ngeema Sangay Tshempo on Saturday to discuss the issue of employment opportunities for Bhutanese in Thailand.

Both sides have agreed to establish the joint committee on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing between the Thai Ministry of Labour and Bhutan Ministry of Labour and Human Resources on the legal employment of 12,000 Bhutanese workers in Thailand.

The details for the MOU is expected to be public by March this year.

Tshempo said that Bhutanese workers are capable of communicating in foreign languages. The minister also assured that there will be no complications from illegal Bhutanese workers going into Thailand, due to the fact that both countries do not share a border.

Bhutanese workers will be given clarance through immigration only at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
